I'm looking for a Y-shaped sopare tire carrier for a 1927 Touring car. I don't mind a little rust, but it's got to be straight and after sandblasting and painting, be usable and pretty.

This site is not particularly user-friendly. I have not yet figured out how to edit a post. The word that should have posted was "spare" tire carrier.

John, there is no "edit" feature. Also the "Classified" section is the best place for a wanted or for sale item... Welcome, and Good luck ...

Also, those Y's came in two sizes -- one for 30 x 3-1/2 wheels, and one for the 21" balloon tire wheels.

And do you need just the "Y"? Or the long mount to the rear spring also?
Welcome to our archaic website! Many of us like it this way, and some for good reasons.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

John, if it's just the Y you need, I have one I haven't been able to sell at swap meets. It's yours for the price of postage from Oz.

Allan from down under.

John, you can edit posts, but you have to do it before they are posted, if that makes sense. Dave

Is one Y-carrier more correct than another for a '27T? I've seen these carriers made out of several pieces riveted together and then i've seen some that are one piece stampings. My '26 Fordor came to me with the multiple piece riveted design.

Would it be correct to assume the one piece stamping came later and would me more correct for the 27?
