Just shooting through the front window as you drive down the road is OK, but you can make it more interesting if you add different shots from various positions. That can be done with a helper operating the camera, or you can put it on a tripod and shoot yourself. Try a piece of foam rubber over the microphone to cut wind noise. You don't have to add music, but if you do, something from the year of the car would be good. I use iMovie, but there's a lot of free video editing software you can download for both Windows and Mac. If you can set the timing, charge the magnets, or rebuild the rear axle in a T, you can make a good video. It ain't brain surgery.

Not great, but an example of combining various shots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21k8N9rR0GU&list=UUFVx528ORtpDgCPJXbFCA6w

This one by Jim Thode uses a nice combination of stills and live video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-NY2U3ghPo

Mitch Taylor goes all out with a fancy production that even has black & white with scratches added to make it look like film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxfHMtgg2d8

Note that all three of these are selfies, with nobody helping.

Steve, i watched the vids by Mitch before i even purchased my first T. After purchasing it his vids were very helpful in understanding the proper techniques of starting and driving a T. Seems i don't have the confidence to narrate my own crappy vids as i am so new to the hobby, they are all silent films. Hopefully i can get better as my skills improve, i personally think the more vids here the better. We all know how frustrating it is when somebody asks a technical question about a certain part with bad/blurry pics, well how about a short vid of the problem you have?..its so easy now you can do it with your phone, and a youtube account.

Thanks for posting these links Steve.
I always like to see you work with the camera.
I even found myself in the one from Chickasha with the 1886 Benz! Look about 2:30 into it I'm there with the cellphone camera.

Herb, I think the most remarkable case of being caught on camera is my brother. I Googled the satellite view of his house. When I switched to street view, there he was, standing in his driveway.

What was he doing?
Was he fixing a roof?
Was he splitting wood?
Was he driving an old truck around?
Was he kindeling a fire in a fireplace?
I watched a few of your videos tonight. Can you tell?
There were 83 I think. I didn't get them all!
My eyes are getting blurry:-)
I did pick out no.74 as my favorite so far.

Herb

Hi it's Mitch here, thankyou for sharing my video link Steve, -- Incidentally, the software I use for my video editing is Sony Vegas 13.0 on Windows 7. My camera is a Sony HDR-XR260.

You guys may also be interested in seeing my website, there's a goldmine of free information there, as well as the videos from YouTube...

Hi Steve - Nice thread on videos about our favorite topic! :-)

I think these would be good to have on the club site so they could be easily found and watched, especially by newbies.

Thanks, Keith

I like that idea. One of these days I want to do a definitive version of how to start and drive. I say "a" and not "the" because people have different notions on what are the best driving practices.

I think it would be neat also to have one showing Model T's driving on all the various types of roads that they used in the T era. That would be harder than it sounds, because some types of roads are hard to find without a lot of modern stuff in them.

It would be fun if owners would make a TV ad for New Model T Fords using their T. Then post to Youtube.
Of course, at the end of the ad, the owner has to be shown on one knee, polishing the Ford logo on the radiator.

"Just shooting through the front window as you drive" is a good way to get invited to a chat with a Judge !!

It's one thing to do something stupid. It's another thing to make a video of yourself doing something stupid and posting it online for the world to see - including the cops or a judge !!!

A short video of a tour from a few years back made by my son. It's not all T's, it's not all cars, but it's fun!!!

I was making quite a few videos but my Flip Video cameras lost all support from Cisco on Jan. 1 2014. I can no longer upload to Youtube :-(
I'm looking for a new system and software. I would love to contribute videos again :-)

I was in a group of Ts last year touring on the Natchez Trace. Here comes a motorcyclist heading the other way using both hands to make pictures or video of us. I have often wondered if he finished with a close up view of a motorcycle wreck :-(
