Sandwiched between New London to New Brighton and Old Car Festival every year is our local "Fun Days" celebration. We have a car and tractor show, non carnival games and events and parade. Usually we take a few cars to the car show. The idea is inexpensive family entertainment centered around the city square block park.
At the car show, a high school classmate with two grandchildren pose on the Model K:
The weather was great, reaching the low 80s by the afternoon.
Following the car show was the parade. Usually my wife and girls ride horses in the parade while I march with the Legion. However, this year both girls are in high school and required to march with the high school band. My wife had knee surgery Thursday so no horse riding. The Chamber asked us to provide a ride for the "Classic" (code for oldest) local business man and local historian. Pictures courtesy of my immobile wife:
Following the parade was a barbecue, then street dance with local band made up of our pastor, high school band director and several friends. And of course, fireworks to finish the evening.
Now it's time to begin preparing for Dearborn to Lansing and The Old Car Festival. A great time of year. Hope all of you have had a good weekend,
Rob
Does that make you feel younger when your classmate has grandchildren and you have teenagers?
Dave,
No, it doesn't help, I still feel old.... Evidently I'm just slow.
This is our 40th year out of High School (1974).
