The round slots are for something to attach it to the fire wall, but what?
I do not see anything in the catalogues.

Thank you, Bob

I don't have my kid's car handy to double check, but I am pretty certain those are reliefs and they're there for clearance. There are two brackets on my son's fore doors; the little one goes to the firewall and the larger one goes thru the floorboard to the body sill.

Bob,

It may or many not make any difference and you may have said in an earlier posting -- but is your car a step side 1911 style body or the later smooth side body? And does it have the one piece or two piece dash board? From the photo I would guess one piece dash board - but you know for sure so I thought I would just ask.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob,

From the review it appears your car is a slab sided 1912 -- if I have that wrong, please let me know.

There are some photos at the posting located at: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/331880/384103.html
They show Greg Sarky’s smooth sided 1912 touring. His profile is still active so you can send him a PM if no else responds with the answer. From the low resolution photo he posted of the left side, it looks like the recesses are to clear some nuts or bolt heads. See the reposting below:

And the photo below Phil Mino posted showing the bracket that extends down and attached to the body sill:

I'm sure others who have more experience with that year car will let you know for sure.

Robert-
I believe those are reliefs for the side lamp brackets.

Here it is on my 1911.

On this 1912 you can see the 1/4 x 28 nut for the side light bracket just sticking out from the (non-original)upholstery:

These photos are from two different slab side unrestored 1912 tourings.

The Ford Farm link shows pictures of the earlier 1911 - 1912 body. Different from what Robert Owens has.
