You do not want good brakes in that sort of set up. If things get out of hand, the best thing to do is accelerate, or even better is to drive like you have very poor brakes, the T is an ideal towing vehicle in that case.

Good one Jay: My father had one of those mixers, and he changed it over to rubber tires and PTO drive from a tractor. It could pour a carload of cement a day, but an unbelievable amount of work. Thank you for posting all the great photos from the past

Looks like very flat country, probably southern Illinois. Back when I was a road driver we use to call that part of the country table top driving.
