My new-to-me '27 tourer apparently had a 1/2 upholstery job sometime in the past. The rear seat and side upholstery were replaced and still look good. The front seat had some kind of a fabric seat cover over the tattered original upholstery. The rear seat has metal buttons at the midpoint of the pleats on both the seat back and the seat cushion. The front seat has buttons in the same location on the seat back, but the seat cushion did not have the buttons and on close inspection did not appear to ever have had them. The car was built in March. What is correct? I elected not to put buttons on the seat cushion, but when we do the seat back I will install them if that is correct.
March 1927 would have plain upholstery, no buttons on the open cars.
