While out on a drive the other day in my 26 coupe, I was about to go up a hill and there was a loud banging sound under the car. When I looked under the car I discovered the driveshaft housing had broken at the flange where it bolts to the pinion bearing housing. Is this something that can be welded back together with no issues or should I locate another housing?

Robert Butler: Don't try and fix it driveshaft torque tubes are a dime a dozen. If you were closer I would give you one. I once let a stack of them go to the junk yard because I did not want them.

Where are you? There may be somebody nearby with a spare. As Dave says, they're plentiful.

Thanks for the offer Dave. I am in West Chester PA, about 30 miles west of Philadelphia. As Steve says, I may find one locally.
