To fit three across in a runabout, this must be the 'Narrow' triplets; Fanny, Heinie and Keister.

Looks like they were having a blast! Carefree and devil-may-care. Good for them.

Great cursive handwriting, something that got lost probably never to return.

Cursive is not totally lost yet. I get notes from time to time like this one from my Daughter's History teacher:

Although the Villain in the Melodramas was always saying "Cursive!!! Foiled Again".

There's lots of us who still do Calligraphy just for the giggles. Back in 1979 I had a pharmacist call me because I was practicing my calligraphy (English Round Hand in that case) on a prescription. He didn't want to fill the script because he didn't believe a doc would write that legibly!

Looks like they are having fun on a summer trip. One flag says "Albany" and the photo says they are out and back to Montreal. Looks like they may have started from near New York City and gone due north.

I am interested in where they loaded up that spare tire... and why in the world would they cart along an extra rim?

TH

The rims on the car are the lug type so why would they carry a tire and rim and not have the tire mounted on that rim and ready to put on the car.

The demise of different forms of writing has been lamented for many generations, in Germany in the 1930s hitler banned the use of Sutterlin script as well as fracture typeface. The biggest problem with all forms of cursive is that there are so many different styles that anyone who has been taught to read and write cursive in one region may not be able to read the hand of someone form another region. In Germany, very few people can read letters or documents written in long hand just 100 years ago, in 20 years the same will be so here. Things change, heck, most people do not know how to dial a telephone anymore.

Willie,

From the photo the spare rim appears to be 4 fixed lugs -- probably a standard Ford rim. But the rims on the left side of the car are 5 lug accessory wheel & rims. They did not show the right side it may or may not have the matching 5 lug. This looks like a low budget trip to me. A lot of fun but probably more concerned about gasoline than having all the rims the same.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

In high school I was required to take "penmanship" class. One hour a day for the entire freshman year we were required to copy the examples in our penmanship book. We used Scripto ink and real ink pens.

I was left handed and it was always difficult to write without running your hand through the wet ink. The teacher taught me how to hold my paper correctly and write so as to not smear the wet ink. I remember writing lines of zero's, c's and all letters and numbers line after line. We were graded on conformity and exactness.

just sayin'
