Hey guys. My solenoid seems to be firing like a machine gun but the starter is not turning. I tried to take it out but once the screws are out it seems to be holding onto to something inside. Am I missing something? ( besides the repair manual?)

wes, you MUST take the starter drive off first! You may have already damaged your mag coil ring. KGB

How do I know if I caused damage?

Once the starter is of, you should be able to see the coils at that point of the ring and check to see that the insulation is not damaged. They can stand a slight bit of abuse but very much and you could cause a short. KGB

Also the car has been taken to 12 v. Is the magneto still in play?

Since a T doesn't have a soleoid, I presume this is an add on solenoid? If so, it would seem you have a low voltage problem rather than a starter problem.
