how much does a model t weigh, so I can calculate the towing capacity? This is a 1912 touring, but never know what the next T will be.
From this web site at:
Bob, they vary not only by body style but also by year. If you look through the encyclopedia at Jim's link by year, you'll find the shipping weights listed for each one.
1200 pounds seems a bit light for most later model Ts. Most parts did get a little heavier. Starters, generators, batteries, demountable rims all added pounds. Some added quite a few pounds.
Don't forget to add items you may carry in your T to the weight being towed. Most later Ts will weigh in at about 1600 to 1800 pounds ready to go. Some may be a few pounds over that.
Plan on 2000 pounds plus trailer weight minimum for planning's sake.
Drive (and tow) carefully, and enjoy, W2
