McCalley writes (p 327,456,563) that in 1922/23 Ford introduced the one man top. While researching Briggs Body Numbers I came across an article that indicates that the American Forging and Socket Company (July 1921) introduced to Ford owners the "one-man" top. The article states that it is well known that (circa 1921) Ford is now the only car manufacture without a single action top. The American Forging was willing to send a description to any dealer, top-maker, or repair shop owner. See Model T Ford International for post.
The American Forging and Socket Company ....
Whatever happened to the way people named companies to reflect what they do ?
Today it's Costco, Initex, Adservio, Envi, or Xypexco. WTF ? :-P
May be this will answer Burger in Spokane. In the 1953 (60 years ago and as old as most reading this) Charles Wilson then Chairman for General motors made this statement, "As GM Goes, So Goes the Nation." So what is left of companies in America are cryptic.
