26/27 tranny. The drive plate and brake drum rivets have slop, can they be heated a dark red and pounded tight again?
Tyronne, I would say no. Better to drill them out one at a time and replace them as you go. They need to be hot rivetted, and two hands make the job easier, one to man the torch doing the heating, and the other to position the drum and do the setting.
hope this helps,

I have center punched a few if the are not to loose. You may have to reface surface if affected.I did them cold so no worry about breaking drum.
very good. thank you both. Yes Allen I can see it being a two bloke job.
I have done as Jack resetting the rivet but after going back into an engine that was abused, to much advance and lack of oil the fix was loose in about 500 miles.
Replace the rivets, make sure the holes are round and you do not need to install hot, it is a cold process.
Never seen a successful rivet tightening. Remove and replace is the only sure thing.
Those are cold riveted. No reason to heat the rivets. You may affect the temper by heating the rivets. I have riveted many of these cold. After riveting you will need to chuck up in the lathe and face off the buck tails of the rivets.
I have always done my rivetting hot. I believe that a hot rivet will better fill a less than perfect hole and will pull tighter as it cools. Cold rivetting may be easier to manage.
I do not know if heating a rivet meant to be hot will in any way mess with the temper. I suspect not.
Hope this helps.

Rivets aren't tempered, if they were it would pretty difficult to pound them down cold. JMHO Dave
