Thinking of using the fold down welt for my hack top trim but was wondering about going around corners. Is it flexible enough for doing this? Also has anyone a source for stainless or corrosion resistant tacks? Copper is too soft for the hard wood I'm using. I'm thinking aluminum would be about the same. Tried using staples but my air gun would jam about every fifth staple. Tried a different brand staple with the same results.
Gary,
The Closed cars used fold down welt. I used it on our Fordor when I did it 25years ago. It will pull around corners with out much trouble at all.

I do not know what metal is inside the "fold down welt" but the tacks need to be compatible. Electrolosis could be a problem. Two dis-similar metals and a little water equals corrosion. Stainless should be a good choice, aluminum or copper would be a poor choice. (unless the fold down welt is aluminum or copper). good luck ....
Thanks guys. Ordered some fold down welt but it's on 2 week back order. Also got a better air stapler. What a difference.
We have fold down on a 1931 Chevrolet I do not like it at all, probably going to be one of the first things I change.....
Ours doesn't lay flat in the corners, the sun has shrunk it some and it's not covering the corners very well now. Trying to pull lose in the sharp bends.
Please note this isn't for argument sake, only sharing our experiences using it. Yours may do Fine......
