This past weekend, my mom came to visit for the first time since I've had the Speedster back on the road. It had been disassembled in 1979, and I just got it back together this spring. When she saw it in person for the first time since then, through her tears, she said it looked better than ever.
She first rode in the car with my father back in 1961 when she was 17 years old, when she and dad were dating. She rode in it again when we took it to a local car show. About 100 cars were there - mostly muscle. Won the "Best Kernel's Choice" (popcorn festival) award, which was nice, but the highlight was having mom riding in the car she first rode in 53 years ago when she was a kid.
It was a very good day.
Awesome Dave! Dave
Thanks for sharing with us, Dave. It doesn't get any better than that!
Neat stuff Dave!
Now, that is a good story. Cherish that car and the fine woman who loves it.
Absolutely priceless--for both of you. Wish I could have given my father a ride in the T he owned when he was young. I found and restored the car but my father passed many years before.
A very special time for you and mom.
