Today when I attempted to look at the new posts I got a pop up ad that I could not shut off or remove. Are we allowing this in order to cut costs of running the website ? Or is it just my computer ?

Frank, I didn't get any pop ups.

Maybe a setting on your computer has changed?

Popups like that may happen after you visit risky (risque) sites, Frank...

Click Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs and look for any that were recently loaded.

There may be some that you don't want and are very difficult to remove there.

Adobe Flash Player and Java update often times have a little check box that if you don't uncheck it will install third party adware. I think this is what you have Frank . You will need to uninstall these unwanted addons in control panel.
You can also Google this issue and like many of us are frustrated with this practice.

Just happened to me and another recently after updating java. Had to have the adware ripped out by our tech people.

Have any of you tried to read these "agreements"? I think it was Google Adobe flash player or something that I read the first few paragraphs. It gives them full permission to spy on you, including videos if you have a camera on your computer. I turned it down, so there's a lot of crap I can't access.
