I've sniffed all around the settings in the forum and I cannot find anything that allows for the system to notify me when people comment on my threads, or threads that I am interested in following. Can someone give me advice on how to adjust the settings so that I receive updates via email (or text) if there is a thread I'm interested in following? As always, thanks.
There used to be something in your user profile.Check there.
I figured the trick would be in the user settings area, but I can't find anything in there that seems like it would allow for the notifications.
Notifications from here come in the baskets or vacuum tubes like you used to see in the department stores. Deal with it. If you send the underwear department manager a mean note you cant take it back.

I'm familiar with the feature your talking about and its not available on this board. The software used here is relatively simple and lacks many features, but its simple and easy to use and most like it that way.
Cheers
Bill, your comment takes me back to the forties, and I assume the store I remember was much older. The cashier was in a balcony overlooking the sales floor. From each counter situated around the room a cable stretched up to the balcony. A clerk would take the customer's money, put it into a little basket hanging from rollers on the cable, pull a lever, and a strong spring would shoot the basket up the cable to the balcony. The cashier would make change, put it into the basket with a receipt, and roll the basket back down the cable to the sales clerk. I believe that was in a Kress store. I've never seen another setup like it.
I remember a setup like that (I believe also in a Kress store) when I was a little kid in Ballard (Seattle). Early '50s era. I remember it was fun to watch.
J.C. Penney's in my youth had the same set-up
