I am getting ready to pre- fit my side curtains on my 1927 touring, for this falls tour season, The fasteners on my windshield stanchions were 2 different sizes. The ones I bought from Langs are all the same size. Does anyone have a photo of the fasteners or a description of how many, what size, and where they go. Thanks ....

Donnie - On our '26 Roadster Pickup, there are 4 studs that stick about 5/8" towards the rear on each windshield stanchion. They are threaded with a fine machine thread into the windshield stanchion.

There are 4 of these studs on each windshield stanchion whether the stanchion is the early or later style stanchion.

I hope this helps you.

Keith

Keith, Thanks. I removed the fasteners (studs) from my stanchons, but they were different sizes. Are all yours the same size.?? And do the repros work as well as originals. Thanks ... PS Its in the 50s here in Arkansas. I thought I better get the side curtains figured out early. We have also checked the inside of the persimmon seeds for the "spoon, fork, or knife" shape. All of them are a "spoon" The old wife tale says that a "spoon" means a lot of snow and cold :-( :-(

Donnie:

The rear side curtain on a roadster is sandwiched between the top and the rear bow. There are usually 3 round grommets in the rear of the triangle portion of that curtain. The rear bow has "body sockets" with an extended lip to hold the grommets of the rear curtain. The top has three "push button" fasteners on each side that go into the rear bow. I have not been able to locate the three fasteners that go into the rear bows. The "body sockets" that I have been able to find do not have the extend lip to allow the rear curtains to be sandwiched between the top push button fastener material and rear bow. I have seen some vehicles with lift the dot fasteners with the extended posts to allow one to sandwich the rear curtain between the top and rear bow, but I believe this lift the dot to be the incorrect fastener!

On my Canadian 26 the stanchon pins are 10-32 thread with four on each side the nut portion is 5/16. It is possible that the different sizes are because the thread may have been stripped and a jobber supplied oversize pins?? On front bow iron the two forward most pins are #8 wood screw and the rearward is 10-32 machine screw. There are four on each stanchon and three on each side of the forward top iron. 10, 10-32 machine screws and 4 #8 wood screws. David British Columbia

Thanks everyone. I have the curtains installed, If it was raining I would be "wet to the bone". I still have a couple issues to fix. The two rear double stack "Murphy" twist fasteners on the top material above the top prop nut (way above)are ripped out. My top is an old top and has shrunk quite a bit. and everything is tight. For now the rear double stack grommets are zip tied to the top irons. Works OK, but I will have to remember to carry extra zip ties with me. The other problem is the four push button grommets between the doors are repros and do not want to latch well, and they almost pull out of the sheet metal. But other than that "I have side curtains" I will get to try them out next weekend. Thanks for the help.... Ill try to post a couple photos later.

Donnie - To answer your question, all of the four studs on our stanchions are the same size.
