Wes, I know little about all this technical stuff but my son has installed an Ap in my phone which allows me to check the size of the photo I have taken and then lets me re-size it and transfer it to my gallery. Then I can post it. It must be simple, or I couldn't manage it!!!

Allan from down under.

try Simple Resize from Tekunodo. It works easily and is free. I use iCabMobile to upload the pictures from the iPhone to the Forum.

I am considering changing the photo upload size to 400 or 500k.

You will still have the same problem unless I can find some way to programmatically have the size reduced.

Wes, I just up-load them to my computer and then email them to myself. That way I can chews the size I want and then save them to my pictures.

Happy motoring,

Warren

Chris, I think 400KB would be more than enough in most cases. On my equipment, pictures at that limit would be too tall to fit the screen.

It would be easier and better to migrate the forum to V Bulletin so we could use remote photo hosting. Then picture size would be unlimited and inserting pictures would be so much simpler.

Chris, I have been making a habit of offering to resize and post pics for folks who can't do it for themselves, so I have a feel for the "typical" raw picture size that folks have.

If it's the same amount of work, I would raise the limit to 500K instead of 400K for extra margin.

Thanks! :-)

Am I the only one annoyed by "remote photo hosting"? I seem to find myself reading through years of old posts on forums. Often I am trying to research something to do with antique automobiles, racing, or the era surrounding them. On many forums, threads more than about three years old, about half to sometimes most of the pictures are "image no longer available". Often I have found information I really would like to see, only to find that the website does not support their own photos. The value of much of their forum is lost due to the random nature of posters and their individual photo hosting sites. I often look back to posts on this forum (many of them six years old!), and never find a deleted photo. mtfca.com is the best!
Thank you Chris! Sorry to say, you will never please everybody.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

The reason I dont post photos is the size problem. i take most photos with my IPhone now days and then load to my pc. What ever comes from my phone is to large. I have found that if I post to my Facebook account first then copy to here they work but I don't use that Facebook thing very often. Im all for auto resizing if its at all possible. I think that would solve the problem for many and you would see a lot more photos here.

When you list something on ebay, you can use any size picture, and it is automatically changed to a common size in the listings. I have no idea what it takes to make that happen, but wouldn't THAT be nice? :-)

^ Not to be the bearer of bad news but old, outdated, forum software does not have that capability.
That's just the way it is.
