I came across a set of coils at an estate sale and when I got them home I removed the coils from my car to try the new coils engine cranked right up and ran as good as the coils I currently have the problem is 2 of the coils are very tight in the box (27 engine mounted) and the problem is the width. Is it ok if I lightly sand the sides so they fit better or was there a difference in the size of different coils?

Wood warps and swells. Sure why not. I use boiled linseed oil on mine when I am done rebuilding.

There were odd sized early coils but there's no way they'd fit later boxes anyway. Sand 'em.
