Thinking about making a run this year if the schedule (& the weather) stays clear. Haven't done it in quite a while. Is there an actual "car show" day or is it about the same every day?
The show is Saturday. http://www.hersheyaaca.org/fm_schedule.html
If you want to see any of the flea market, my recommendation is to arrive Tuesday - Thursday. By Friday, most vendors are pulling out and by Saturday, most are gone.
Do they still have the showers. I can't remember exactly where they were.
yes, last year they had showers all day Thursday and Friday!!! the human showers are under the grandstand in the red field.
The accu-weather extended forecast is looking pretty wet for Hershey week... I hope we don't have a repeat of last year.
Who is going?
Not me. Hershey is on the wrong side of the country and I have to work!
However, I have a couple of small items that I would like someone to keep an eye open for me. Please send me a PM if you are willing to be my personal shopper.
: ^ )

James,
I hope you are wrong with the long range forecast.
It rained pitchforks and axe handles Thursday night and Friday last year.....
Larry
That's the big problem for me. 150 miles one way won't seem like much to some of you but if there's any chance of weather I pull back. The last time I was there was the year before there was that threat of flooding and I stayed away. It was beautiful there that weekend. Goes to show ya'.
Larry.. I know. I was there. I found out that my rain coat was only "rain resistant" and NOT rain proof... !
for extra protection from the rain take a shower in RAIN X
Hi Richard,
The showers are located behind the stadium & to the left in the newer building.
Please note, its not going to rain this year.We are going to have T shirt weather.
Scott
Thanks Scott
I've been going to Hershey over 20 years and without fail, the rain almost always makes an appearance. That hasn't changed. What has changed is people's tolerance to it. The flea market fields used to be just that...fields! I remember backhoes and large tractors pulling out RV's in axle deep mud so that they could get on their way home. Now, it's all paved and some don't even show up if it's threatening, let alone stick around for the whole show.
I have going to Hershey since the whole show and
the flea was inside the stadium. I have shown a
Model T since 1968. I had a 1923 touring for years. It was a senior car.Ford motor co.bought
it in 1994.From that time I have shown my 1911
touring every year.
I have seen Mud,Rain,Snow and good weather. As
long as I'm able I will keep going.I see people
that we see on tours from all over.
Like Peter, I am now in my 6th decade of Hershey (wow!)
I too have been there in residence in mud slides, torrential rain, freezing weather, and Mohave Desert heat...sometimes all occurring in one year...part of what makes it interesting!
I'm too old to tent camp in a space, and the guy who I later RV'd with passed, but there was something about the Coleman lanterns hissing and giving off their glow that added to the annual charm. My kids loved it too as I'd send them off with wagons in the morning, and they would show up at bedtime with pockets full and having eaten well...
The car show is still on Saturday Charlie...some years not too much T representation as in past...but still worth the walk and watch. I'm not going from Tuesday thru Saturday night anymore...I got spoiled when my son bought a place maybe 15 minutes away...but he has now sold that...so he and I are going for a flea market day...then staying overnight in a hotel (wimps) and then coming back Saturday.
Reminder guys...I am still looking for a couple of 21" demount rims that are half decent! Haven't found any local and will be looking to find while at Hershey. Give me a space number if you are willing to throw a few in your truck anybody.
Despite my advanced state of maturity, last year was my first time. I saw about 2/3 of it before le deluge, so I'll try it again this year and maybe see the whole thing.
For the most part, are the vendors fully set up by Tuesday morning?
For the guys attending Carlisle / Hershey car shows this week and next. RJ&L Automotive Fasteners & Vintage Wiring Supplies will be selling bulk cotton covered battery cables from 2ga-2/0 along with the tin coated brass battery terminals, spark plug wires, asphalt loom, 14ga, 12ga 10ga cotton covered braided primary wires in different colors with tracers.
Carlisle IH66-69
Hershey CN 61-64
James - Tuesday is the load in day for vendors. So it's somewhat scattered, but we've bought stuff on that day.
Thanks Dan...
Anyone know of vendors that have a selection of original door keys? I'm still looking for DF940. Will have my lock with me until I find one.
turn into the parking lot off hershey highway?
Rich: I will have some keys. I think you know where I am but, Spaces CR33-36. Thanks, Dan
I have been going to Hershey for over 40 years. My son from FL will not be making it this year so I have taken over his 4 spaces in the Chocolate field CK-19 - 21. I will be featuring a wire wheel running chassis ready for a bolt-on or custom speedster body. Stop by to hear it run and start on MAG or just to chat and set a spell. No rain this year; we got it all last year!
