I have seen a few times where someone has edited their own post. I knew the setting was set to allow the editing but didn't know how you actually did the editing.

I thing Eric has found it for us.

Gary, I opened my profile and looked at the latest posts. The last one showed that it could be edited so I tried it and added some text. It leaves the "stamp" of the date this was done.

See his post here:

Just found it and edited this entry!

Click User Profile icon on top of screen

Login with your User ID and Password

You will then see Most Recent Posts .... with an edit icon that looks like a pencil beside the posts you can edit.

But that will only work if you have the box checked to show you your latest posts. If you don't have that checked, you can't do it.

So if you want to edit your posts, you have to make sure you check the box that shows you your latest posts on your profile when you log onto your profile.

If you know that no one is perfect, and mistakes can be made, except them and have the common sense to interpret not criticize them we would have more participants and less lurkers. Hopefully I didn't misspell anything ,and I know that my grammar isn't great. Spell check doesn't work ether sometimes.
O well I think thanks just life as I see it.

Bob

It looks like there is a time limit for " most resent posts. "

I suspect that a member's latest posts can be edited until someone else posts in the same thread, am I correct, Chris?

looks like you can edit as long as no one post after you.

That should be OK. I usually see my mistakes immediately after I hit "Post".

These are the settings in the system related to editing posts. You have 30 minutes from the time you post. From my point of view it is designed to correct those errors you make and don't notice until after you hit the post button.

But is there a way to edit the posts of others to make them really offensive ? :-)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Willie K Cordes on Friday, September 26, 2014 - 11:21 am:

Burger, that is something that Chris does not want you to do.
For example, you could add the words "I like water pumps" to a post that Royce wrote. That would heat up things in a hurry.
Yes the edit feature does seem to be working.

Well I logged in to user profile and then couldn't find "Most recent posts"

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Willie K Cordes on Friday, September 26, 2014 - 12:13 pm:

Ken, you have to check the box under the heading of Preferences called "Show most recent Post when editing my profile". Than save profile changes.
Now it should work (it did for me)

I wouldn't edit for grammar or spelling but this is great if you decide to add or delete a statement like Royce likes waterpumps :-)

It's great to have this possibility.
Another thing I've noticed recently is not so great.. why are some random words turned into ad links? Different color and different style of text makes it hard to read.
I first noticed random small pictures getting inserted in picture posts several weeks ago, didn't care much since it doesn't disturb the postings like this new invasive advertising atrocity..

Hey wait a minute - maybe it's a virus on my computer converting random words into links? got a lot of cleaning to do..

I once made a mistake - I thought I was wrong but I wasn't.
