Pinion bearing spool unlike the late years, is attached by studs and nuts. What years is this and can I use long bolts rather than the studs.

1910-1921. You can use bolts from the later open spool. Occasionally you see a rear end that has some studs and some bolts because that's what somebody working on the car had at the time. The thread is 13/32-16, NOT 3/8-16. Studs with nuts or bolts are both available from the parts dealers.

You can find the pinion spool bolts fairly often in buckets of T parts at swap meets.

I gave a guy a dollar for a nice greasy set
at Chickasha last year.
