I bought this a few years ago at a junk shop in South Coffeyville for $7.50. The price tag labelled it as being lead. This was before I got my Model T. I bought it because it looked interesting.

Looking at it now I am wondering if it is babbitt. It looks a bit too light in colour to be lead.

Federated Metals ingots usually have the alloy of the material cast in that area toward the right of the bar in raised letters. I'm not sure what the deal is the one you have there. Carve some off the edge with a knife- if it looks grey, its lead, if its a bright silver, it MIGHT be babbitt- and then it could be a bar of tin.

My Dad used to buy solder like that, only the bars of solder were longer and narrow.
