What is the best head gasket to use? Silicon type or copper.

I own a 1927 roadster and installed the modern style composite head gasket. After realizing that there was a leak I started over with the copper style gasket with Permatex copper spray. That solved the problem.

Copper Cross my fingers and knock on wood the one I have on the engine now was used from a different engine. Put a good coat of copper sealer and has been good so far. Stock engine and head, neither have ever been surfaced and I used the Ford wrench to torque it down.

They all work fine. Any problem with a head gasket can be blamed on installation technique or surface preparation.
