I bought this Heinz coilbox several years ago at an estate sale with some T parts. I've shown it to a few people but no one has been able to positively identify the approximate year and make/model car this would have gone on. I was hoping it was early Ford, but not sure.
Can anyone help me out? Also any idea on value/rarity would be an added bonus. Note that one coil is missing.

Also stamped in the lid along with this tag is the number "1264".
Most of the people who could answer your questions are at Hershey, wait till next week.
Come on, Jack! You're one of the guys I was counting on! (grin)
If I ever knew,I forgot I forgot.
Well I'll take an inexperienced stab here, since I'm still learning, but from what I've read, possibly '11-'13?
For what it's worth, the switch is the same as the one on my 1910 Chalmers-Detroit but the coils are slightly different.
Chalmers-Detroit box.
I checked the lid on my coil box and it also has the original tag. The serial number on my box is 68535 so if they were serialized sequentially your box is earlier. As far as value is concerned, I have no idea other than to say that you see them around fairly often and the prices are all over the place. I have a spare that I bought for $75 with 2 coils in the box but I have seen people asking $500 for the same thing. My Chalmers has a dual system so the coils are only used for starting but the car will run on a discharge system if the magneto dies but the coils perform poorly. I put an impulse on the magneto so I can start on the coils or magneto because the coils are so unreliable.
Dan B ; is this your missing Coil ?

Very interesting. I can't say if I've ever even heard of Chalmers-Detroit. Have any pictures of the rest of the car? I wonder if it was used by other manufactures around that time period, or if it was made specifically for them.
Toon - Yes! That is my missing coil. How did it get the whole way over there?
Dan I will try to post a picture of my Chalmers-Detroit. Chalmers-Detroit succeeded Thomas-Detroit. The name was shortened eventually to Chalmers Motor Company. In the 20's Chalmers merged with Maxwell and eventually Chalmers became Chrysler and Maxwell became Plymouth.
Dan, A friend of mine is running coils like those in his Ford Model S. He says his box does not look like that but those are the same coils.
Are you interested in selling??
Alright, I figure everyone is back from Hershey by now. I appreciate all the info given already. Any more insight?
HI DAN--It will suit me fine to put on my 1906 ''N' restoration --WILL YOU SELL IT ?--IF SO HOW MUCH ?
Those are NOT Model NRS Ford style coils. The NRS coils have the high tension, (i.e. spark plug), lead coming off the bottom of the coil, not the side.
