I have intermittent power from the ignition switch to the coil box which must be fixed. (1926) Reading many posts it seems i need to decide who to buy it from as some folks say some repo's from some suppliers are junk.. An option is to buy a repair kit but again some posts say some of those are junk. Any advice on what to buy is appreciated.

I know I need to see if it is a "pin?" or "tab" design of ordering a repair kit

Ben Martin is the go to guy for Model T Ford switch repair. Home 770-938-3376 or Cell 404-789-6350.
Ben is at Hershey this week so it would be best to wait till next week to contact him.
Ben has repaired several switches for me an I have been very satisfied with the result.

David,

Ben's switches are best. I do stock his rebuilt switches if you need one.

They're not complicated, you can likely make it work yourself by taking it apart being carefully not to break the tabs if it's the tabs type, cleaning and sanding the back plate flat and rebending the contacts inside so they have a good oxide free contact again. Back in business in less than an hour :-)

I have the pin type switch in my 26. It started to cut in and out as I drove it. I ordered the contact pate from Langs and I had to do a bit of filing to get it to fit. After I got it to fit, it has worked fine for the last 12 years.

Thanks Will I took it apart, TAB it appears very simply mechanical device App points look bright. I cleaned all points with a brass demerel tool. I checked it had power to the battery side (it did) put it back together and it still no power to the coil box. So more trouble shooting tonight But I find solving and fixing a problem is fun !

Good for you David! I also repaired mine in my 1919 Runabout several years ago.
Model T switchs are no harder to repair or replace parts in than working on any other T parts.

I used the replacement switch plate kit in it and its working just fine.
