I am running metal wheels on my '26 Roadster. My hubcaps rattle horribly. I have taken the wheels off and tried my best to bend some of the tabs to reduce the rattle; however, I am having a hard time bending them through the hub. I thought some of you might have a trick you use and could share it here for us newbies.
I just put some plumbers silicone on the inside tabs.
Bend the tabs back so you can take out the hubcap. Put a narrow strip of duct tape around the hubcap in the tab area so it won't show when the hubcap is back in the wheel.
You can still bend a few tabs with the tape on, but the tape will keep the hubcap tighter and silent. You don't have to use all tabs - if they break you still have a few left for the next time you may want to take it off.
Put an O-Ring around the cap in the groove between the ridge at the back of the cap & the wheel nose.
Ditto on Jerry's comment !
Silicone on the inside after bending the tabs worked fine for me.
