I had to borrow a Model T to drive on our club's last two tours, because I was working on mine. Now I can drive my own on our upcoming tour next week!
Here are some pics:
It's a mostly-'21 Runabout, with interior, top, and top boot supplied by Elizabeth at Classtique Upholstery. I am very pleased with the upholstery kits. The car has disc brakes from Ben Hardeman. I don't like their looks either, but I do like to stop when I hit the brake pedal. Engine has a Z head, aluminum pistons, Stipe 280 cam, TW timer, and Simmons carb.
I haven't had a Runabout before, and I am very pleased with this one. This chassis had a heavy wooden Express Delivery body on it before, and after restoring it all and driving it on a few tours, I didn't like it. The seating position wasn't comfortable for long drives, and it had no "zip" pulling all that weight uphill. So I took the body off the finished chassis and put the Runabout body on it. Mikey likes it!
Nice Mike! Enjoy.
Mike, Looks like you have been very busy. Looks good. I sure wish I could make the tour next week. Missed the last one, now will have to miss this one. They say "the third times the charm" so maybe next time. Have fun with you new/old toy .....
Mike, it looks great!!! Better put a big stick in to beat off all the young ladies. Is it supposed to have those cowl lamps and 12 volt battery?
Looks really nice!
On the Road Againnnnn............
Mike,
You have been busy considering that the body work was just started in the middle of June! Enjoy. I wish could be there for the tour.
Nice
Not quite like your Couplet, but very nice---paul
Come on Walker, where's the comeback. It might look better with natural finish spokes too.
Mike, do yourself a favor and remove that Ford fan before it decides to remove its self, and goes through that new radiator. Those pressed steel fans tend to break for no reason while in service. Overall very nice car.
Looks fantastic Mike!,..whats that button below the middle of the seat?
Looks very nice!
Do drive carefully, and enjoy it a lot! W2
Going modern with one of those newfangled electric things, eh?
Now, that is one crisp-looking restoration! Enjoy!
Mike, that is really neat. Don't pay any attention to that Mathis fellow!!!!
Mathis fellow -- It's my car, and I'll build it the way I want to. Nyeah, nyeah.
The chassis was originally a non-starter one, so the cowl lamps are legit. (Otherwise, you know I wouldn't have them. ) The 12-volt system is not visible, and it's there just because..... BTW, you can have your varnished spokes. Henry and I like 'em black.
John P. -- That button is the actuator for the electric self-commencer which someone added to this chassis 50 or 60 years ago. (I added the starter button and solenoid.)
I agree with Mike and Henry on the spokes. It's the way God intended.
Looks great! I hope I can get mine looking that tidy someday.
Mathis fellow -- "It's my car, and I'll build it the way I want to. Nyeah, nyeah." You stole that from me. Just trying to rile you up for all the times you remind me of the personal preferences on our car. See you Wednesday.
P.S. Ruth and Janelle would not approve of you ending that sentence with a preposition.
