I believe that originally there was a metal strip there. The wood is probably an after market thing. We are in the process of making a set of the metal strips, but they are not quite done.

The wood strips were added by a previous owner, they are not original. The upholstery came over the tops of the doors and body on the 1912 slab side bodies.

Here are pictures of unrestored 1912 slab side tourings:

Forgot to say, there were no metal strips in 1912 on top of the doors or body.

Hey Bob:
What did you wind-up doing with your original seat upholstery? I'm doing the same body where I hoping to locate good original patterns to make the new stuff to.
Regards,
Scott

William, I have the upholstery in a bag. I am keeping it but not sure why?

I will help you if I can but I would guess that calling the people who make repo seats would be a better person to ask.

Bob

Would like to borrow for dimensions only, then return it. If these original hides had come with my car, I would not let then leave either. Please PM me to trade ph numbers.

Scott
