Does anyone recognize this carb?

It is about 3/4th inch shorter than a regular carb.

That makes hooking up the hot air pipe a problem.

Carb

Doesn't it have "Kingston" cast into the side showing in your photo ? Appears to be an L-2 or L-4.

Steve, that was hard to read, but it does appear to be Kingston.

Is that carb rated very high?

Looks like a Kingston L4 made for late 25 through 27.

Although I have not run a Kingston, I know folks that do/have and have heard no complaints. It does have an additional "moving' part - the flapper that the Holley does not utilize.

One of my two Model T mentors liked Kingstons the best for his cars. He was a professional mechanic for all of his adult life and died at age 93.

I remember the man who wrote a lot of the MTFCA Carburetor pamphlet-Hugo Richter- saying he liked his L4 the best of all others.

While I play with other carbs (Marvel, Schebler, Stromberg) I keep my L4 as a back up.
