Hi guys - started the engine teardown today.

Removed the head, pan and timing gear. Found that the timing gear was loose and wore the dowel holes way out of round. Bet it was making a nice racket.





The drums look to be in great shape.

You should have witnessed what I found in a real beat up 26 motor I salvaged for parts for mine. Opened up the pan and inside was the gelatinous liquefied remains of a half dozen or so mice in the oil. Crunchy little bones, etc. It was.....not fun cleaning out. Who knows how long those buggers were in there.

Mathew - I got lucky and the car sat inside a heated basement, so no critters - just years of crud. I could just imagine digging out jellified mice.....yuck.
