Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2014: Anyone have detailed/colored wiring diagrams?

I'm mismatching wiring harnesses from 17-25 and 26-27 years so I'd need diagrams for both years. I'd really like some well detailed diagrams, especially ones in color if you've got em. You can post them here or emaail them to me at matchinson14@elmira.edu if you can. I had the electrical system book but sadly a kerosene spill in the garage has permanently fused the pages together.

If all else fails type "mtfca; wiring diagram" and do a search, you will get about a bazillion hits in google. :-) Including this question.

There are some excellent diagrams here also, but not full color.

You are correct, but many of those found in your search have errors or are not complete.
I got tired of helping folks with Model T wiring problems only to find the diagram they were using had mistakes. This is why I prepared the one above. I know it is complete, correct with additional necessary information included.
Now, I only help people who agree to use the diagram above to avoid us both chasing our tails.

Bud, you wouldn't happen to be looking at the dim and bright filaments on the two headlights? :-)

Those are the two headlamps at right top/bottom.
I should annotate them to clarify this.

Thanks, Ron! If the MTFCA Electrical book is ever re-issued, I hope your diagram replaces the free-hand drawn one that is in the book today. :-)

Here's Ron's diagram minus the paper.

And here's a timer illustration in color. I think it's correct.

Here's a good discussion of timer wire routing for the 1926-27 "improved" cars:

Steve
Thanks, I was wondering how to do that?
The color timer and coilbox illustration is correct AND very useful.

Thanks guys, I will definitely use these today. I also found some colored diagrams for the terminal block on an older mtfca post here http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/50893/52315.html and just wanted to make sure it looks good too. Now I just have to work up the courage to get out of bed and go down to the unheated garage: it's 35 degrees here!

Why would you need a color diagram, when the wiring diagram tells you what color the wires are?

One additional comment. The 1919 and 1920 cars had a separate wire going from the generator to the amp gauge, so even though this diagram shows the wire going via the terminal block, it isn't 100% correct for the 1919 and 1920 cars. Also, the terminal block had only five spaces on it for those cars. There are two versions of that terminal block as well, early and late. We are now supplying Langs with the early version.

Mike Conte;

I'd suggest you throw away the bottom diagram. If anyone wires their Model T using that diagram, it will not run very good. Thanks to the eagle-eye of Ron a few years ago, that diagram and others from the same source were found to have errors.

Regards,
Garnet

Mike
Garnet is correct your wiring diagram on the right has incorrect timer to coilbox wiring.
In all fairness to Texas T Parts that diagram was corrected soon after Ben Hardeman was notified. The current drawing on the Texas T Parts website is depicted correctly.
