What is the difference between a Model A and T spring. This one is 1-11/16 center of hole to center of hole. It is new old stock after market.will it work? Thanks, Bob

I know the model "A" spring is supposed to be stronger and I was told after buying a reproduction and immediately breaking it in 2 places with my 12 volt model "T" I should get one, instead I got one from NAPA and it has been in there for 2 years with no problem.

Bob
The Model A spring ID is 1 5/16 and OD 2 1/16.
The Model T spring ID is 1 5/16 and OD 1 15/16.
The length between the screw hole centers of both is 1 3/4. They are the same in every other respect.
BUT, if you use the Model A spring on a Model T Bendix drive shaft you run the risk of the larger diameter (thicker spring cross section) spring AND the combination of the wrong drive screws/bolts and keepers of it hitting the inside of the Bendix drive cover on the hogshead and perhaps forcing it off the hogshead. Do not ask me how I know this.
Bendix spring #'s were L10-6 for Model T and L11-6X for Model A. See if you can find a Bendix Wickwire Spencer cross reference.

I found another list showing Wickwire/Spencer spring part numbers to be SS1L for Model T.

G.R. - would you happen to have the NAPA part number on that spring?
