I wonder if one of them is named Ethel
Wow. Love those beautiful pumps. I want a visible pump so bad I can taste it. Never gonna happen.
Don't say never Tim,I picked up one at Chickasha for $600.
well I have got about a 100 pumps, but not one of those, that is also an oil dispenser. very rare!!!!.charley
I suspect those are electric,as I do not see any pump handles? They are definitely big and rare.
Jack, that was a good price for sure. What condition was/is it in? Like to see a pic of it, it'll help me in my continued quest for one, and what maybe or maybe not to pay? PM me with ur email and I'll get back to you. Thanks
Here's a little history on Cal-Pet Gasoline: http://www.oilcompanyroadmaps.com/VenturaCalpet-CA.html
I just noticed it, who or what is the little waving man on the roof of the building?
Vent pipes with covers to keep the rain out. Sewer vents would be my guess. But I wonder why there are two.
Steve,
The two vents on top of the roof my not be sewer vents. Most likely they are vents for the underground fuel storage tanks, which probably explains why there are two grouped together.
There have been several of the oil dispensers like the one gal is holding on ebay for several months.
Early 20th Century Burka? Much nicer than the current version. The return on the vent does point to tank vents, fumes out, rain proof. Sewer vents don't really mind water.
From the looks of the pavement that lane must have been reserved for Model Ts.
Gary,
re: the oil spots on the pavement. When I was in High School and worked at a 24hr gas station at the freeway it was the night shifts duty to scrub any oil spots off the pavement with solvent and hose it away to a drainage ditch!
Try that today!
Tim,I'll try to get a picture of mine tomorrow. It was surface rusted and missing all the glass when I got it.
The red one is the one I found at Chickasha. I still have more work to do to finish them up.
jack if you don't have the bottom doors I make them.$60.00 eh.charley
Jack - Yeah, the one more thing ya' need to do is to acquire a couple a' those "Gas Genies" like the two shown in Ray Syverson's photo that started out this thread! Then, nobody'd notice that the pumps are missing those two little doors at the bottom! .....harold
I have the original doors.Just waiting on finishing up the wiring to instal.I am putting an electric eye switch on ,so they light up at night. I don't want any Genies,to many responsibilities
I would like the pumps and the Genies but I'll have to settle for just the pumps because my heart couldn't take the stress of the Genies.
Nice gas pumps Jack.
