If using a Waukesha Ricardo head, would also using a Chaffins or Stipe 280 lift cam cause valve clearance problems.
I've read where this can be a problem with "other" brands of old cast iron high(er) compression heads. I haven't read anything about the WR's having the problem.

No problem on mine with a Stipe .280 cam. My head was milled so much that I had to relieve it a little bit for piston clearance on #3.

With any of the high compression heads, early or recent, it is best to check valve clearance with clay, putty, or prussian blue without a head gasket in place. Not all castings are created equal and especially with the early heads you probably have no history for any milling that may have been done. Quick and easy to check.
