Between Steamboat and Ft. Collins, Greatrace, June, 1998. It reached a high of 35 all day, including freeway driving. The skin on John's nose was split by hail.

That photo is so neat! I would love to know so much more about it. When? Where? Who? The body looks a lot like a Mercury, but I am not sure.
Thank you Jay!

I should have known that.

Neat picture of a nice original speedster. But I can't help thinking how nearly impossible it must have been to actually drive the car at all in snow with those completely slick and treadless tires!

Actually, those tires and that snow might have something to do with why the car appears to be someplace in the front yard instead of out in the street! Not sure what year the picture was taken, but I think that those early treadless tires were manufactured back when cars in the "snowy" two thirds of the USA were usually "put up" in the barn or garage for the duration of winter and ol' Dobbin was hitched up to the wagon again.

One other "observation" and then I'll shut up! (hey, it's a rainy, windy, stormy day here in this part of the PNW (San Juan Islands) so lots of time for computer).

The other day, I started what I was pleased to see became an interesting thread. Discussion on how many speedsters, "back in the day" were significantly lowered, and how many were built "stock height".

The very nice looking PACO in this photo does not appear to me to have been lowered much if at all!

I have driven a speedster in the snow a few times.

I don't know if Steve Hite reads this forum often or not? Several mutual friends do however. Steve REALLY should chime in right now! Right?

Harold, I think you may be right about the Paco not being lowered much. Good catch.

Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
