Anybody besides me have really strange events happen with yahoo.com email? I can't save an attachment...it goes somewhere but the location is a mystery. If I open a .doc or .docx document, it appears but is just a collection of goofy characters. Just thought I would ask before making the agonizing attempt to talk to someone at yahoo........Thanks
I just got mine back, Mine has been unavailable all morning. It happens sometimes.
Dana,
Try checking where your browser is putting your downloads. Then, "open file location" and you should see your recent downloads.
I hate yahoo! They are constantly making changes. Most of them I don't want. They promise "your email, your way". They make a change, and if you want help, or to complain, they make you agree (for the umpteenth time) to a "user agreement" that clearly states that they can do whatever they want and that there is nothing that you can do about it! (When was the last time you read one of those "user agreement"s?)
After they made several changes a couple years ago, I got fed up with trying to figure out how to do things I was doing just fine. I can now download only some attachments. I don't know why some and not others. I quit trying to set up a home page with the news or entertainment sources I wanted. They kept taking them away or changing them into things I did not want.
My wife used to teach people how to use computers. Even she cannot get her home page the way she wants it. Yahoo makes a decision making some towns local news and weather ours, not our request. And I am sorry, but Bakersfield's news and weather is just not the same as ours. It is 300 miles, one mountain range, and half a desert away. Just last night I had to listen to her complaining and trying to remove another one for about twenty minutes.
The problem I see, is that most of the computer generation grew up wasting their childhoods playing "Super Mario Brothers" punching millions of bricks to find hidden keys and magic mushrooms. They do not understand that not everyone in the world likes a never-ending game of hide and seek. Not everyone wants to reprogram how they do things every other week.
I have played Super Mario Brothers, years ago, with the kids. It can be a fun game. But come on now, there is more to life than that.
Enough ranting out of me. Shut up Sheldon!
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Yup yahoo mail has been really slow or not available
Wayne, I think the same people are running You Tube. It seems the site has been redesigned every time I upload a video. Enough already.
They have RUINED Yahoo groups about a year ago and purty much shut out alot of people that are in others hobby's that I am from each other.
I wish these da-- company's would quit changing so much. All it is is job security for some college kid.
Thanks for all your input. Yahoo was only part of my problem. My son sorted me out after he found a corruption in my user registry. He replicated it on his and then deleted and rebuilt my user registry. Internet Explorer was also a bit to blame. I am busy now getting our newsletter "Leaks from Lizzie" ready to publish. Thanks again.....
Yahoo mail (both webmail and POP mail) has been flaky the last few weeks. They'll straighten it out soon.
I recently found that I cannot access many sites with Internet Explorer on my home computer but can with Google Chrome.
I finally figured out that I can't get the "latest" explorer because I am using Windows XP.
This is another way for Microsoft to force me to spend a zillion dollars upgrading to Windows 8 and purchase new compatible programs.
Fred
You don't want Windows 8. Bad Bad
Fred, I dont know what your running for a pc but I upgraded from XP to 8.1 on my pc. I, rather my son in law loaded it for me offline. I think the full cost was around $100.00
I think i am going to investigate other options over Winblows with my next computer.
Trouble is,the last 1 I bought used, the fellow tried to load linux or something on it, and the newest program would not support dial up.
Yahoo email is still funky.
In IE11 it keeps logging me out despite having checked the "keep me logged in" box.
In OPERA I log in once and that's that until I log out.
By the way I PAY for enhanced Yahoo mail and it's worth it to me but getting logged out 3 or more times a night gets old.
Windows 8 is basically an excellent operating system with a horrifically bad interface. 98 out of 100 of my customers hate it, the other two said they could live with it.
Microsoft has realized how bad it is and has decided to skip Windows 9 (as the name is too close to Windows 8 for marketing purposes) and skip right to Windows 10.
If you can afford the wait, wait for Windows 10 which should be out in the first quarter of 2015. Microsoft typically alternates operating systems, xp - good, vista - bad, Windows 7 - good, Windows 8 - bad. So wait for Windows 10.
BTW, my characterization of "bad", and "good" is not really mine, but impressions I've gotten from clients and customers in a lifetime of IT work. ;o)
Yes, Yahoo really isses me poff.
I hate the stupid green background on the email that started showing up a few months ago. Sometimes the old white one is there for a few days.
On the green one I can't figure out how to put an email address in my address book when I get and email from somebody and want to save the address.
I've had the same Yahoo email since 1999 and I don't want to change now. It's on all my business cards, etc.
They only log me out every few weeks.
I hate it when the "SEND" is at the bottom and not the top.
