I bought seats today from Mac's Cartouche today.
I do not question him since he is going by a pattern. I just feel better asking if 2 1/2 inches sounds right? That seems pretty low.
He said the front seat is 3 1/4 inches high. Then he said the rear seat is, I thought he said 3 1/4 in the front and 2 1/2 tapered to the rear of the rear seat.
I told him just to make front and back seat 3 1/4 high unless I call back.
Is there a correct height?
Thanks in advance for your feedback. Bob
Here is what a 3 1/2 inch seat spring looks like. I have boards both on top and on the bottom of the spring. Too high a seat IMHO. Ignore the cardboard under the seat. I put it there temporarily to protect from scratches.
Thank you for your help Richard.
I think I will have them make it according to pattern.
Robert, the front seat height on my 1912 touring is 6 inches. It's the original seat, I can send you pictures if you like. Kim
Boy is this confusing! Thanks Kim, I already have the 3 1/2 inch springs. I will upholster them since I had them custom made from a good vender using a pattern. Bob
What's confusing Bob? You have 3.5 in springs and will have at least another 2.0 in padding. You are where you need to be.

Oh OK William, I did not think about the 2" of padding. I kept thinking the cushions had to be compressed to some degree to anchor the leather which would bring it down to a lower level. All's good now. Thanks,

Snyder's has been making springs for years in fact I think that's how they got started. Did you check their catalog? Unless your spring is special they might have had it in stock.
