Is there someone out there that can tell this old timer how to post pictures on the forum. It needs to be a simple way, if such exist, on how to do it. (I still wind up my Victrola) and watch Laurence Welk.
Any way cheers to all.....J. P.S. I use a iphone 4s if that helps.

Jerry,
If you use a smart phone you are too advanced for me.

The trick to posting photos is to resize them so that they are less then 194KB. Here is a simple online method to resize them:
http://www.picresize.com/

There are dozens of way to resize photos, find a few in this past thread:

Charley,
In windows 7 if you view photos in the pictures file and highlight a photo with your mouse, you can see the dimensions in in pixels and he file size in KB's at the bottom of the screen. The file size is what counts for posting here but the size of around 800 pixels wide works well for posting online.

If you see a photo online you can see the dimensions and size if you right click on the photo and select "View Image Info"

Jim

Charley: right click on the picture then click on properties and it will tell you the size of the picture you are looking at.

Why don't you elderly gentlemen who have trouble with this get some kid to show you? :-) Grandkid, neighbor, scout troop that helps old people, whoever. For us computer challenged old-timers, having somebody show us the steps is a lot easier than figuring out verbal directions.

Oh! I forgot I use GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) but it takes some getting used to I too wish it were a little more intuitive.

I know many have trouble resizing pictures. My favorite tool is:

http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize

All you do is install, then drag and drop your photo file on to the icon, and your photo is resized to whatever you want. Take a second and read the instructions - it will be your friend for life.

I guarantee there is no easier way if all you want to do is resize.

In Photoshop, set your image height to 4.0 inches and your width to 6.0 inches for landscape or height 6.0 inches and width 4.0 inches for portrait. Your DPI to anywhere between 75 and 100 for color and 100 and 150 for black/white or line drawings and that should pretty much do it...at least that's how I do it.

8.0 x 10.00 inch by 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) pictures will not post (too many pixels).

I have a handful of Victrolas and a Columbia Viva-tonal portable but I prefer to listen to my discs on a more modern German turntable (don't tell Royce).

I wouldn't put Harry Reser in the same category as Billy Jones, Ernest Hare or Phil Baker. He was practically in a league of his own and was much more than just an entertainer.

He was an extremely talented and prodigious musician and a prolific musical director and recording artist. If you listen to any recording in which he was involved, it's evident that he had very high standards.

Good luck Charley... In keeping with model T topics and HTT protocol (two T's) remember this is the only forum in the world that's not user friendly enough to post POST tin type photographs. BTW... I find it necessary to use an eyedropper with 2-3 drops of MMO to keep my digital camera shutter functioning at speed. Anyone tried any DMSO lately?
