I'm repairing some stress cracks on a nickel plated brass radiator shell for a 1926 touring for a friend and I'm wondering about the hood clip that rivets to the shell? The one that was on there was a rear (it was held on with pop rivets of all things), so I'm putting a new front one on (not with pop rivets). Is it painted to match the body or is it nickel plated like the shell? I'm not real familiar with the do's and don'ts of a 26 so I thought I'd ask here and see what any of you guys who has one of these thinks should be done?

Mine have all been rusty. I would guess they were painted black originally.

Martin

Looked over several nickel shells, and all show a plated steel open style hood bracket.

The shell is brass and nickeled plated, and the steel bracket has remains of nickel plate too.

Ok, that was what I was wondering, couldn't see it as being black but wasn't sure.

Thanks Dan
