Yep, you know what they're good for don't ya? I l bought a set of trailer lights and gutted them to install into the lanterns. Mounted under the bed of my TT, I now use them as stop and marker lights. I'll post pics when I can.

I hope you didnt damage the lanterns to much.The US made 1's are collectable by both lantern collectors and railroad folks.

Didn't have to damage them at all. I bent up the metal holder from the kit and pressed them into the gap where the wick comes out and then ran the wires down and out through the perforated base. No damage to the lanterns, but these two were badly rusted before sandblasting, so I think I'll be forgiven if anything happens.

I guess I have a soft spot for those because when my dad was a small kid he lived near a railroad track and was allways bugging a employee that helped back the loco's up to cars and such. He would watch the guy wave a lantern and slow it down till the connectors touched.When the railroad got battery lights, the guy gave him the lantern and it is hanging up in the den,still works.
