Does anybody know what the designed clearance is between an aluminium transmission cover (mid 1911-12) and an original flywheel?

The reason why I am asking as I have had a welder repair some damage on my 1911 tapered hole transmission cover and need to know how much, if at all, I need to clean the welding up that is in the inside of the cover. Any help or previous experience shared would be greatly appreciated.

Dav, I have a 12 on the floor at the moment, 15" fly wheel, 8-1/4" in width and depth from centre line on the hogs head, 3/4" clearance each side and top.
Hope this helps.
