I just happened to have to pass through Indiana today and just happened to be in Richmond and thought I would stop by the museum to take a look see and thank Barbara for getting us all involved in the matching funds. It did not occur to me that this was Monday and low and behold, the museum was closed. However, all was not lost and I had the opportunity to look over the restored area of town and what a great place. And the museum fits right in! I intend on bringing my wife back before the holidays are over.
And I made my motel reservations for June 6th for the show and tell. Might even bring a car up and play some before the event.
I can't wait to see the inside of the museum again. It's been 2 years since our last visit.

Tom, Thursday's tour will be a half day, self guided tour. You will be in good shape if you start by 12 or 1. Friday's tour will be a full day tour. We are also planning a buffet dinner for Saturday night at the Firehouse Barbeque. More details will follow as we get them worked out.

Can't wait for it next year. Now that I finally have a trailer of my own, I'm planning on being there barring unforseen circumstances. It's a beautiful historical district, walked it two years ago when we stopped in to the Museum. What a great museum. Next on that list too is to eat at the little diner where they don't let you talk.. "shut up, eat, and get out!" I think is their motto! I hear its great food, but so small they wanna keep 'em moving. :-)

Tim, That diner had to close, the back wall was about to fall in. The Firehouse Barbeque bought it and it is now located in the front portion of the old firehouse. Same stools, counter and still great food! See you in June.

"shut up, eat, and get out!"

That sounds like boot camp. :-)

Tim, had we have known you were in town, we would have met you at the museum and let you in. All you need to do is call the MTFCA office at 765-855-5248. We open frequently for people when we are aware they are travelling through on our 'closed' day.

I will add to what Barbara said. I came through on a Monday a little over a year ago. I e-mailed Jay a day or two before, then called him when I was about a half hour from Richmond. We met at the museum, he showed me all around and then we had lunch at the Firehouse. I gather that tourists are tourists, but MTFCA members are family... :-)

Barbara
I would have contacted you ahead of time but my time was short and the pass through was unexpected, as I was responding to a customer help call for work.
But I may return this Saturday just because I can't wait until June. I may also bring my bride with me so she can shop the stores we have been discussing. Hopefully the weather will be good this weekend.

Visited the museum today. Big improvements since my last visit. Bought some Christmas presents. Ate at the firehouse and had a great meal. Just a super day. I highly recommend the trip.

Tim - My wife used to have lunch at a place called Eat It And Beat It when she worked in downtown Kansas City years ago. Good food, tiny place. :-)
