Do I need a "soft plug" inside the fourth main?

I am finishing the install of the trans in my '26 I just finished rebuilding. Do I need some kind of "soft plug" inside the fourth main? I didn't see this in any of the rebuild info. This is a picture I found on in the forum:

Yes - make sure it is fully seated. You can read about it in the Service Manual.

If you saw it there, and it was fixed, leave it.

Once in place its fine, no wear on that plug.

Thanks Eric and Dan. I will look into the shaft tomorrow. I looks to me like if there is something within three inches of the end of the shaft. I am OK.
