Verse 1
Johnny O'Connornor bought an automobile,
He took his sweet-heart for a ride one Sunday,
Johnny was togged up in his best Sunday clothes,
She nestled close to his side
Things went just dandy 'till he got down the road,
Then something happened to the old machinery,
That engine got his goat, off went his hat and coat,
Ev'rything needed repairs
Chorus
He'd have to get under, get out and get under
to fix his little machine,
He was just dying to cuddle his queen,
But ev'ry minute, when he'd begin it,
He'd have to get under, get out and get under,
then he'd get back at the wheel
A dozen times they'd start to hug and kiss
and then the darned old engine it would miss
and then he'd have to get under, get out and get under,
and fix up his automobile.
Verse 2
Millionaire Wilson said to Johnny one day,
Your little sweetheart don't appreciateate you,
I have a daughter who is hungry for love,
She likes to ride everyday,
Johnny had visions of a million in gold,
He took her riding in his little auto,
But ev'ry time that he went to say "marry me,"
'Twas the old story again

That's probably the most common piece of automobile sheet music.
The only variation is the performer listed on the top line and his/her photograph in the lower right hand corner.
Anybody that does more than drive once a month to an ice cream parlor will have to get out and get under sometime.
I wouldn't mind getting out and under that nice 1912 torpedo roadster if it were mine!
I have probably about fifty sheet musics from the '10s and '20s, but not that one. I wish I did have it.
I also wish I had found an original "My Merry Oldsmobile". It was one of my grandmother's favorite songs. When I was little, she would often play her mandolin and sing that song so beautifully.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
I am going to try the above picture one more time. Don't shoot me if it does not work.

Dave,
You should block the wheels when your on such a steep grade before you get under.

Peeling shims to fix that rod rattle.
And here's the Olds song with the famous Bix solo.

I wonder why all these guys are wearing white shirts?
Larry,
Wearing a white shirt while working on your T provides an opportunity afterwords to emphasize your ability and effort substantiated by the hard evidence of a badly soiled shirt.
