Winging its way over the Pacific right now are a couple of large-ish packages containing all the parts necessary to build my speedster engine, including a new Scat crank.
"So What?" you ask. Well this is a BIG DEAL for me. Something I've been waiting for and wanting to do for more than 10 years.
My apologies for the triviality, but I just had to get it off my chest and tell the T world.

Well like they say...if you don't post pictures it didn't happen. So to help you with the non-believers...

G’day Rob!

Congratulations on your “Christmas Presents!” And this is a great place to share that sort of news. The folks at my work are great people but they are not T folks. And they don’t "get it" when I try to share about some rusty part I was able to find or why anyone would read so much about cars that are out of production. But the folks here understand that better. Many of them know what it is like to go from dream to project to driving. Thank you for sharing the good news! And don’t forget to post photos of your progress when you have a chance.

By the way, have you settled on what you generally want your speedster to look like? If so, please post a photo of the current goal. I would suspect over 10 years it has changed a little or perhaps a lot. One of the nice things about a T and especially a speedster -- you can make it into just the car you want it to be.

Again, congratulations and best of success as you put the engine together.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

Its a "good day" when you get new T goodies. And, a "Scat" crank is a very nice goodie. Like Hap said, post some photos or at least a description of your "goal" and "vision" of the project. Im in the starting stages of my own speedster project. I have been collecting parts close over 20 years for it. So I understand the thrill of things moving ahead. Good luck with the build and hope "Customs" treat your parts well.

Andrew, Yes.
Frank, Me too.
Dennis & Donnie, Thank you and pics of the project will be coming.
Donnie, Thank you and pics of the project will be coming
Hap, Thank you too. I plan on using a "Rootlieb" kit and this pic is roughly how I hope it will look when finished. My plan is for it to be cream in colour with red seat trim and red late T wire wheels

Very cool! Wish I could afford that and I get cheap shipping!

Rob,

That is a classic design that will look great in cream!

Proving that one shouldn't count their chickens before they hatch....neither of these packages have arrived. So I'll take back the WooHoo and sulk.
Its now been 17 days since I was told the shipment had left, but these things can take up to 4 weeks to get here from the States. I have however, had deliveries that have arrived in 5 days.
I leave for the USofA in 2 weeks and will be away for 5. I hope it all gets here before then.
SIGH.....

Rob,
Don't be too upset. The mail at the moment is terrible. No Vintage Ford and of the 50 plus USA Christmas cards sent only 3 replies. same last year some arrived February.

Not sure who it is our PO or the US PO but they seem to be getting worse each year, Must be global warming!!!

I have been informed by my local Post Master, that a 2 week back log of over seas postage has been put into storage, a new mechanical sorting system that is failing and sacking of the old hand sorting staff is the problem, some small stuff is still coming through.
Making a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hang in there! And remember there are probably some other things you can work on while you wait for the package. Probably not as fun as building that engine -- but still things you would like to have done in the long run.

Respectfully submitted,

At least the problem is just getting the stuff there. You could have the issue that my buddy from South Africa deals with where they hold his stuff hostage until he pays a ransom - often 3 or 4 times more than the original shipping cost was supposed to be.

I think your parcel has arrived at the airport but they still haven't unloaded it yet.

They say it still has to go thru customs once the Christmas rush cools down.

Thanks for your concern and reassurance gents.
Getting towards the desperate stage, I got in touch with Dave at Chaffins who gave me the tracking numbers. It turns out that both shipments arrived in Sydney on the 19th DEC (13 days ago) and have been stuck in Customs since the 22nd. mutter......mutter.......mutter.......
