All the old guys who hate change should be over there using it for practice so we'll be ready when this one changes too.

One nice feature is that it has a much higher limit on picture file size.

The new MTFCI site looks great and most of the links appear to be working. I was finally able to view a copy of Model T Times #1, every time I tried before I got an error message saying that the file was locked by another user.

I never had any issue with the old site when I'd be in USA. Overseas? It didn't want to know me past the home page.

When this site eventually changes, please don't go to a frames version like there. Try it on a smart phone...ugh, only about 25% of the view screen is dynamic the rest is the static frame

It's like a ghost town over there... if you can get in. It took me 30 minutes to get past the bogus denial screens, new password prompts and then when I did get in, I went to look at the various links, crash after crash. Please don't tell me its my browser as I'm using Chrome on a Win 8 machine... about as generic as it gets.

Sorry, Steve, When a web site is as flimsy as the MTFCI site, no amount of practice will help. It seem that if more than 20 or 30 users are logged in at one time their system goes unstable. Perhaps a server problem.

I just don't think they are ready for prime time yet.

I just got on the MTFCI site and it worked very well.

I viewed the car Forum, the TT Forum, and several videos.

It all went fast, no delays what so ever.

It is a nice looking website.

I stumbled into it two nights ago, but did not have time enough to really check it out. However, I did look at a few threads quickly. And I do mean quickly! They loaded. I could see all the pictures! I had all but given up on it months ago because when I would try to view things Jay was posting, all I was getting was a lot of broken pictures. If I was lucky, maybe half the pictures would show up. Every time I tried, it was different, and very frustrating. With about a dozen similar sites that I check occasionally, it was the only one that I could not load and see easily.
What little I looked at two nights ago looked promising! Good luck!! Thank you Russ F. I am pleased that you are getting these problems worked out. I hope to check back soon.

I cannot take any credit for the new website. Those who made the website work are Steve Bumgarner, Marilyn Petersen and James Zabala. Comrade worked at getting the website operating as it should and are still working on it. I'm very glad that it is faster to use. Thanks for all the compliments.

Seems to work great. No problems getting in, everything loads fast. Russ thank you for posting this because I haven't paid much attention to it for a while. It's nice just to log in once instead of every time you want to make a new post. Could be a winner.

The new MTFCI site worked fine for me from the iPad.

My ipad works fine too, but I still have the old operating system.

I'll try my iPhone with the new system later.

It works well for me, as far as reading the threads goes. But I couldn't find a way to post anything. I sent a message to the administrator asking for advice. BTW, if you've been missing Royce here, you can find him there. He's all over it.

Well, It appears they are trying to root out the folks from down under.
I certainly hope for the sake of the MTFCI that they can eventually get a website up and running. It looks bad on them for their site,a gate way for the rest of the world to walk into,not to work.

If this site changes,and is to hard to work with,I guess you folks will be rid of me.

It seems to work better for me now than it did. I just visited as a guest. Will try later as registered. I was looking at Jays posts of speedster photos and still had a little trouble with slow loading and broken pictures, but it is better than it was.

Come on, guys. Nobody at MTFCI is trying to keep you out. Do you think you're the only one who can't always get a computer to do what you want? The unpaid volunteers who are trying to make the website work for our benefit might be able to make it work properly IF you let them know about your problem instead of just threatening to take your ball and go home.

I just tried posting a photo to see how that works. Using the tool bar it was easy. It's great for pictures because you can make them big enough to fill the screen. If it's a high resolution picture the full screen presentation will really show the details.

FWIW....

Somehow when the MTFCI server was migrated/moved a few years back a security feature crept in.

The MTFCI server will REJECT all incoming from 3rd party servers that are known to process/produce spam. It may not be your computer, it may not be your service provider, it just happens to be a big commercial server your 'info' passes through and I actually suspected that the default was also any foreign server!

I had discussed with the previous webmaster that MTFCI security seemed to reject ALL offshore servers...but then again the Euro and South American guys had no issues. I suspected that their processing servers were actually USA based and that was why it worked.

There is a long and slow process where a web master can take notice of a reject, and go into the local server security settings and enter an 'allow' for your personal IP address and each and every IP that the 403 has been happening to. Mark rightfully so decided it was bigger than a breadbox...

I suspect that the new face of MTFCI is in fact a canned software face and everything beneath it is still one and the same. As such they can only change content and NOT how it works.

For our Oceana friends, you 'might' want to try a free VPN site as your in between browser to handle your USA interactions and eliminate any 403 type issues with any American site. The big USA commercial package servers 'see' the VPN 'address' as local.

I want to thank everyone for their comments, and want everyone to know that we are working at resolving the problems that have been identified by participants on this site. The MTFCI can't fix what we don't know is broken, so describing what does not work is very helpful. Launching a new website is a "process", and with everyone's help, we hope to get the website up and running well.

While some comments here are concerning, please be assured the MTFCI does not want to "root out" anyone wishing to use the MTFCI website. Many problems from the old website have been addressed, and upgrades have been introduced. Continue to use the website and let us know what problems, if any, you encounter. We will continue to work on these issues.

I'm glad you were able to post a picture, Steve, but I can't see it. When I click on this in your post, IMG_5924_2 copy 2.JPG, I get a message saying I don't have permission to see it. (?)

I still get the messages at the bottom of each thread saying I don't have permission to post, and I don't see any way to do it.

And I still have not received a response from the forum administrator to the query which I sent yesterday, addressing the above problems.

I expect they're busy sorting things out, so I'll just ignore that forum for a while longer, as I've done for a couple of years. This forum works fine for me; I really don't need another.

Marilyn Petersen contacted me about the trouble I was having on that site. When I explained what was going on, she said she hadn't encountered that before. I gave her my username and password to that forum, and she logged in as me and worked on it for a while, then emailed me that she had it fixed. And it turns out that she did have it fixed. That's taking care of bi'ness.

And now Steve's picture comes up!

I wasn't complaining, just asking why. Nice looking site.

My speedster is lower than the standard T's I'm used to. Which makes it feel "not quite right" when I hand crank it. It came with a starter -- what was that? I never had a starter on T (well at least not one that worked) until the wife gave me that speedster. And it’s RED! Now a 1909 speedster -- RED would be ok. But a 1922 RED Model T! I don't think it came from the factory that way. Well come to think of it, it probably didn't come from the factory as a speedster either. And the steering isn't the standard 4:1 ratio I used for all my life until this thing showed up. I actually have to pay attention putting it into the garage as I have to turn the steering wheel a little more than the other Ts. And what? Chevy wheels on a Ford! And those 21 inch balloon tires just don't look skinny enough -- they are different from the ones I was used to.

I guess since it was something different I should of told my wife "No thank you. I don't even want try it out. Besides that it has a distributor. Are you sure that is a Model T?"

But instead, I tried the speedster out. And while it is very different to me than the basically stock 1915 & 1918 that I had been driving, it is a fun car. And at this point I'm really glad I didn't say "No thanks – don’t want that speedster" when I first noticed it was different. And the MTFCI site has a little different look and feel from the site I’m used to. But when I tried it -- there were T pictures, T questions, and T folks. I guess if I could get used to an electric starter I could probably learn how to navigate another web site. And it isn’t an either or situation. I didn’t have to sell Blackie (that’s the 1915 cut off that was the first car I ever drove – see profile photo) to have the speedster. The wife asked if she could give me a speedster. And the MTFCI folks are asking you, “Would you like another T web site to use?” For some folks the garage may already be full and if someone offered you a new fangled speedster you might need to say “no thank you.” But if they just want to let you take it for a test ride - so they can get the remaining bugs out of it, I for one am willing to give it a shot. [Of course if it has a water pump, that might be going to far….]

Steve...I decided to browse around the new MTFCI site, and at the bottom of the general discussion forum page, it says I have no permission to post new threads, replies, attachment, nor edit posts. Any idea why?

Go to the top of the page. On the right, if you're registered, log in with your user name and password. If not, click Register and register. If you have any trouble with that, go back to the bottom of the page and click Contact Us and let the webmaster know what trouble you're having so she can fix it.

If any of the foreign members have a problem as the 403 error code then you may be using an older version of the MTFCI website. Try www.modelt.org/index.php and this link should bring you back to the current version and from that point forward should work fine.

Peter, We are still trying to find out why you and other members get this error code. John Housege from the United Kingdom just posted on the MTFCI forum and with a great picture so I know members from other countries can post. We will keep working on this. Sorry for the problems.
