Goes around the valve stems to seal off the guides. Does anyone have one of these? Looking for a sample. Thanks, Dan

I don't know if it was inspired by the APCO kit but the image below was posted many years ago.

WOW! I'm surprised that this popped up after several years!

I'm the Harold that had the "slick idea", which apparently impressed Seth Harbuck, because he's the one that drew and posted the drawing after I posted a verbal description of the valve guide seals I made out of common Lowes or Home Depot hardware. (.........a flat metal washer, a little felt disc with a hold punched in it, and a very soft spring,......) A couple bucks worth of cheap common generic parts, and size not really critical.

I installed these on the four intake valves on my '23 roadster that has worn valve guides, and they work very well. Did not install on exhaust valves as I was not sure how they'd hold up (the felt) with so much more heat on the exhaust valves/guides than the cool intake valves, plus, vacuum tends to pull oil up thru' the intake valve guides, but NOT thru' the exhaust valve guides as there is no vacuum present on the exhaust valve guides anyway.

Hey,....what ever happened to Seth Harbuck anyway???

I made a hood for Seth's speedster then he turned around and sold it. He moved on to other things the last I heard. His skills weren't appreciated by some here.

Harold - I think the original drawing had the guide flat at the valve spring and I just change it to raised. The concept remained unchanged. Thanks for the great idea.

I'd like to see that happen. :-)

Dan - If you're going to make them, I'll take a set. Would the price still be .50 like it says above? :-)

Keith
