Now that I finished my HCCT, I think I'll try to rebuild a mag coil ring. What insulating tapes are they using, and where do you get them? I know they have to be oil & heat resistant. Also how long are the copper strips?
theres are the materials I use from McMaster carr
fiberglass tape 7574-A24 1/2" x 18 yds
insulator tape 7707-5A32 1/2" x 72 yds
spray varnish 7437-K22 15 oz can
gasket paper 9556-K85 12' x 36' x 1/32"
Robert,
Thanks for the information.
Dan
I believe that most folks who redo their coil rings clean up and re-use the original copper strips.
Here's an earlier thread showing a member from Belgium rewinding his coils:

The MTFCA electrical book also has a section on rewinding the coil ring.
I planned on reusing the copper strips. I was just wondering how long they were to order enough material to do the job. Also what to use for the mag terminal because the insulator for it is cracked.
