What are the dimensions of a T pickup box? Length and width. Is there more than one size?
No expert on them, But I thought the true Ford boxes were only produced in later years. There were many many scratchbuilt boxes out there. I made mine using a set of plans I bought from Lang's years ago and various pictures I collected over the years. I forgot the width (I think it was 36" though), but I know the length is 54". I'd have to go measure the width for you.
Lonnie,
Ford made a Pick up box for a car chassis. They also made an Express Box for the TT chassis. Which one are you wondering about?
The all metal Ford pickup bed for the T chassis is 56" long, 40 3/4" wide an 13" deep.
The 1925 box is totally different than the '26. The only interchangeable parts are the tailgate and the battery access door.
The T pickup with the bed Dan showed is 26/27.
A 1925 bed has an iron rod mounted on each side of the bed to attach the rear fenders to the body unlike the 26/27 which has the fenders mounted directly to the bed.
Also the 25 bed is mounted on a deck which raises the bed and clears the rear spring. (no metal piece in the bed above the rear spring.)
fun projects sells the plans to build a period correct wood bed
I was thinking of maybe a steel pickup box on the TT for my wrecker rather than a flatbed. It looks like a pickup box would be too short. How big is an express box and what do they look like?
